Day 1

In the morning departure in Cape Town. Drive along the N2 Nationalroad past Somerset West and the fruit orchards of Elgin to Montagu. From there drive along the Route 64 towards Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of South Africa. Visit an ostrich farm for a tour and perhaps lunch with ostrich meat. Visit the Cango Caves and a crocodile and cheetah farm. B/B Hotel in Oudtshoorn

Day 2

After breakfast depart via the majestic Outeniqua Pass VIA George and Wilderness to Knysna. B/B

Day 3

Day at leisure to explore the surrounding area or just soak up the sun and the beach. B/B -Knysna

Day 4

Depart after breakfast to Port Elizabeth and from there to Patterson. Be sure to arrive at the Shamwari Game Lodge before 12:30 for lunch and a game drive. With luck you will find the ‘Big Five’ and the reserve is Malaria free. B/Full Board – Game Reservation

Day 5

After an early game drive and breakfast depart to the Addo Elephant Park. OVERNIGHT ONLYADDO ELEPHANT PARK RESTCAMP

Day 6

Departure along the N10 Nationalroad past Cookhouse to Cradock. Cradock has an ultra modern Spa with natural spring water. Nearby is the Mountain Zebra National Park with some 200 mountain zebras, several antelope species, small predators and 200 bird species. B/B - Cradock

Day 7

Drive to Graaff Reinet, the 4th oldest town in South Africa. On the way visit the tiny hamlet of Nieu-Betheda and visit the Owl House on which Athol Fugard’s play ‘The road to Mecca’ is based.Graaff Reinet lies in the foothills of the Sneeuberg (Snow Mountains) in the Karoo Nature Reserve. In the western section of the reserve, the Valley of Desolation is characterised by dolorite pinnacles and domes. Graaff Reinet has retained much of the character of a 19th century rural town. Day 8

Drive to Beaufort West in the Karoo and carry on to the Karoo National Park outside the town. The park is known for its plains game and a rich bird life. With luck you will also find the black rhino and the riverine rabbit. The park has the world’s first fossil trail for blind. Overnight only in KAROO NATIONAL PARK RESTCAMP

Day 9

Return to Cape Town via Matjiesfontein (if you have time, turn off and visit this charming village), Touws Rivier, Worcester and Paarl.
